TITLE: “Optofluidic fluorescent imaging cytometry on a cell-phone”
ABSTRACT:
There is always a trend to try to decrease the cost of high precision machinery to make advanced technology more available. With this goal in mind, the Ozcan group from the University of California designed a fully functional fluorescent detector with less than 5 dollars worth of parts and a smart phone with a camera. This technology was tested for spatial resolution against a fluorescent microscope detector and it was tested for dynamic fluorescent fluidic accuracy with white blood cell density against a commercially proven hematology analyzer.
