Take Your Place

By the end of March 2007, students will have 7,500 square metres of refurbished space for studying, meeting or just hanging out. What’s even more special about this project is that the spaces are being designed by the U of C’s own EVDS students.

Spaces are chosen based on their potential to enhance the student experience, with consideration given to accessibility, use, traffic, student input, donor interest and infrastructure costs. The university is covering “behind the wall” costs like plumbing and wiring, while the community has been approached to sponsor “in front of the wall” items like paint and furniture.

Soon there will be new locations all over campus for students to meet, debate ideas, work together or just have coffee – all part of the university’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
