40th Anniversary Funding Guidelines
The University’s 40th anniversary milestone provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the significant successes we’ve had in our first 40 years, while focusing on the future. While plans to celebrate are already in the works, the key to a successful anniversary is to have activities initiated from across campus.
To this end, funds have been set aside to support faculties, departments, and other campus units as they plan and implement both new events and customary activities that will become 40th anniversary events with just a little tweaking.
The existing Special Projects Fund Committee will administer the 40th anniversary funds.
Special funding criteria for 40th Anniversary proposals are:
- Any faculty, department, or campus unit is eligible to apply.
- Projects are to be completed by December 31, 2006.
- A financial contribution is expected from the organizing faculty, department, or unit.
- Activities may be focused on an internal campus audience, or may include a wider external community orientation.
- New initiatives will be considered, as well as regular activities that may have a special 40th anniversary theme this year.
- Applicants may request funding for a range of expenses including, but not limited to: materials, supplies, entertainment, and event equipment.
There will be up to 6 funding competition rounds with the following application deadlines::
- November 1, 2005
- December 15, 2005
- February 1, 2006
- April 1, 2006
- June 1, 2006
- October 1, 2006
Retroactive applications will not be considered. (i.e. The activity must occur after the deadline date for which the proposal has been submitted.)
Applicants are advised to contact Maureen Gammell, Provost's Office, in the early stages of project/event planning, and before submitting the funding application. This is to help ensure coordination of efforts and schedules of these campus events.
Additionally, to help ensure coordination, proposals from Departments (in departmentalized Faculties) are required to go through the Dean's Office for information purposes. Note: The application form (see below) does include a section for Department and Faculty endorsements.
Applicants are requested to use the existing Special Projects Application Form found at: http://www.ucalgary.ca/UofC/research/documents/SP-Forms.doc
Please note that restrictions on the kind of expenses to be covered as identified on the Special Projects Application Form do not apply to applications for 40th Anniversary project funding.
Please submit applications as follows:
- 1 original, 6 photocopies
- To: Special Projects Committee, Research Services, ERRB Building, Research Park
