September 27: The Teaching & Learning Centre (formerly the Learning Commons) is hosting renowned educational speaker Dr. Craig E. Nelson on September 27, 2006 at the Rozsa Centre. He will present a talk on "Fostering Critical Thinking and Mature Valuing Across the Curriculum,” as part of the University of Calgary's 40th Anniversary celebrations. PERFORMANCE STUDIES ATELIER

Fairies? Androgynous rockers? Bodies hurtling through space and time? The Performance Studies Atelier offers a remarkable opportunity to engage cutting-edge Performance Studies research. Three of the most distinguished and provocative scholars from the US and UK (Philip Auslander, Tracy C. Davis, and Stephen Bottoms) as well as the U of C's Susan Bennett participate in a one-day Atelier on Saturday, September 30, in the University Club. If you don't know what performance studies is, come and find out. If you already know, come see the best it can be.

SPEAKER SERIES 2006-07

Actors perform the stage. Athletes perform on the field. Computers perform in the lab. Cars perform on the road. We perform tasks and roles everyday. The Performance Studies Speaker Series explores these and other kinds of performance in monthly lectures given by internationally renowned scholars as well as performance studies researchers from the University of Calgary campus. A lively question-and-answer session and reception follow each lecture.
