Translation from original into the new language. Preferably this is done by a person fluent in both languages who also understands the concepts.
Back translation by a different person.
Verification by the original author of the scale (Dr. Addington) that the back translation accurately reflects the original words.
| If you wish to translate the scale into another language please contact Dr. Donald Addington by e-mail or in writing. |
Validation of the CDSS in different languages: Ideally before a scale is used in translation it should be validated in the language into which it is being translated. This would involve the usual steps such as test/retest reliability, internal reliability validity and lack of overlap with other symptoms or syndromes in schizophrenia.
Listing articles about the CDSS: We will try to post all articles that examine the psychometric properties of the scale on this web page. If you wish to do a study in your language please feel free to do so. We will only post published papers but please send a copy of articles that you have published.
