We Welcome Everyone!

The University of Calgary Health & Recreation Centre, Fitness Centre offers many programs and services designed to encourage healthy participation in a variety of activities. The goal for the Fitness Centre is to provide an opportunity for participants to improve or maintain their health and vitality through a variety of activities and programs. Access to the Fitness Centre is included in both the All Access and Fitness Centre membership options.

Fitness Centre Fall & Winter Hours:

Mon to Thur: 6am-10:00pm
Friday: 6am - 8:30pm
Sat & Sun: 8am-5:30pm

Fitness Centre Rules

• Access to the Fitness Centre is with a membership card (U of C i.d.) or drop-in pass only.
• Knapsacks and gym bags are not permitted in the Fitness Centre (please lock up your belongings)
• Gym attire is required (runners, t-shirt, shorts/track pants, no sandals please.)
• No food or drink (except water)
• Fitness Centre minimum age requirement is 17 years (unless otherwise authorized)
• Please use collars on all free weight bars
• Please follow a 30 minute limit on cardio equipment during peak times
•Personal Training can only be provided through registered U of C Fitness Centre PFT Programs

The Facility

The physical facility offers members 3750m2 of space with an excellent range of fitness equipment. Well trained, certified staff are available to assist the participant in becoming familiar with the facility. A circuit training system is also available providing a full workout in a short period of time. An orientation is required to use the super circuit. Following your orientation you'll be given a shoe tag indicating that you know how to use the equipment. The orientation costs $2, or for $20 you can receive a more extensive training session.

Our programs are offered by fitness and allied health professionals, and include everything from beginner fitness classes to challenging advanced level programs. We offer weight management, yoga, personal fitness training and nutritional analysis; studio cycling for all levels; introductory to advanced strength training and walk/run courses... there is something for everyone! Interested in becoming certified in the fitness industry or increasing your knowledge for your own benefit? We offer Fitness Certification courses. Although we offer a discount for our members on some of our programs, all are reasonably priced.
