Ivy Foundation funding supports study of p75 neurotrophin receptor as a drug target in malignant glioma - Feb. 10, 2009

Dr. Peter Forsyth and colleagues have been awarded a total of $1,277,005 over 3 years by the Ben & Catherine Ivy Foundation to develop and test novel inhibitors of the p75 neurotrophin receptor that could help prevent malignant glioma cells from spreading into surrounding normal brain.  More...
Alzheimer's drug may help stop spread of aggressive brain tumours - December 4, 2008

Dr. Peter Forsyth, Dr. Donna Senger, and Dr. Steve Robbins earlier identified the p75 neurotrophin receptor as an important molecular switch controlling brain tumour invasion. Now, in a new study published in the scientific journal Public Library of Science Biology, their team has discovered that a family of drugs already being tested in Alzheimer's patients may help stop brain tumour invasion by targeting p75. "Shave for Dave" raises more than $75,000 for brain tumor research at the Smith Center - July 21, 2008
