CENTRE FOR BIOENGINEERING RESEARCH AND EDUCATION (CBRE)

The Centre for BioEngineering Research and Education (CBRE) is a unique multidisciplinary collaboration between the faculties of Engineering, Medicine, and Kinesiology. The University of Calgary has been engaged in biomedical engineering research for over 30 years, and has developed a strong reputation as a leader in numerous fields. 

The CBRE delivers the biomedical engineering undergraduate specialization as well as assisting the overall coordination and promotion of biomedical engineering research at the University of Calgary. It was created in 2003 through a grant from the Alberta Government. The CBRE has six full-time faculty spread amongst the five engineering departments and one faculty member from the Faculty of Kinesiology. The executive comprises a director, associate director (undergraduate), associate director (graduate) and an associate director (research). Due to the multidisciplinary nature of biomedical research, the CBRE interacts heavily with the faculties of medicine, kinesiology, veterinary medicine, and science and coordinates activities with the graduate program.
