DR. JEROME B. RATTNER

B.Sc. (Miami, Oxford, Ohio), M.Sc. (Texas), Ph.D. (Irvine) - Professor, Departments of Cell Biology & Anatomy, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Oncology; Staff Member, Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Affiliations: Member - Alberta Bone and Joint Health Institute

Research Interests:

The focus of my laboratory is the study of proteins that are involved in cell division. These include proteins of the kinetochore, nucleolus and nucleolus organizer, centrosome and mitotic spindle. Many of these proteins are identified because they act as antigens in human autoimmune disease. One outcome of our studies has been the identification of antigens that can be used as diagnostic markers in diseases such as human autoimmune disease and cancer.
