Dec. 12, 2008
Friday was the last day of the conference. It was considerably different then the rest of the conference. After arriving to the FAO slightly late, again due to flooding, we entered the Plenary Hall to see it filled with media equipment. The first hour of plenary was broadcast on Rai International (link provided in the last entry). This was such a great experience, for our work to be recorded and presented internationally, so that Italians abroad could see what we had accomplished and hear our ideas.
After the media coverage, we returned to formal plenary, in which we presented the pillars and discussed each of them; making final modifications, of which there were no major modifications/amendments.
For the Identity & Multiculturalism Pillar, the major requests we compiled are:
- Establishing the unique and changing Italian Identity
- Citizenship
Although these are our two main focuses, we compiled a 4 page document addressing the concerns and history as well as proposals and future direction.
Plenary was ended early on Friday, as the FAO needed to be evacuated due to a potential flood risk. In addition the METRO (Subway) was also closed due to flooding.
We spent the remainder of the day shopping—we went to the main shopping road (Via del Corso). Before returning to the hotel we met up with the father of one of the Canadian delegates (Alessandro’s father). After a few gelatos and coffees we returned to the hotel, to pack and get ready for out flight leaving in the morning.
