There is nothing quite as sweet as walking through Central Park in May in New York City. A few blocks away from our hotel, all amenities are within walking distance. After the insanity of the New York City subway, a welcome walk through Central Park helps to remind you of a time before the mad rush across 42nd street to the next block.
Our destination helped set the tone for the day; the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art houses originals of Degas, Picasso, Monet, Manet, the list goes on and on. Being able to sit down and sketch the originals was a highlight of the trip.
A short walk down 5 avenue brings you to 50 street, which is home to the Rockefeller Center, a must see on any trip. Our group took a tour of the NBC studios, the highlight of which was an up close look at the Saturday night Live Studio and Set (which is an accurate replica of Grand Central Station).
After walking to see the gorgeous Waldorf Astoria Hotel Lobby, we headed out to see Wicked, a retelling of the wizard of OZ from the point of view of the Wicked Witch of the West. The dynamic set had a fully functioning dragon, flying monkeys and the Good Witch flying in from a mechanical bubble lift.Grand Central Station
