After a very hot day at Kommos, we retreated to Agia Galini and the cool waters of the Libyan Sea for some sun, swimming and a cold BEvERage to get rid of the saltwater taste in our mouths (well, my mouth for sure).
The group dispersed to eat at various places around the village and Dr. Cat and I found a roof-top patio to enjoy dinner while watching the goings on at the harbor. Shortly after sunset, we were treated to a full moon rising over the Mesara Plain to the east. It looked like an Alberta harvest moon, full, red, round and detailed and, as it slowly rose, you could almost detect the earth’s rotation. Soon it was a reflection on the still harbor waters and it was truly magical. Later Dr. Cat and I were walking along the sea pathway and we saw unmistakable camera flashes coming from the beach so we wandered over to find our students sitting in a circle enjoying what must be one of the most memorable evenings of their life.
