Legal Centre for Business & Technology
A business cannot operate without first addressing a range of mandatory compliance issues and a host of voluntary or not so voluntary contractual obligations.
Compliance issuances are a general part of government regulation of business. They include such matters as municipal licences and permits, zoning of businesses, provincial licences, business record keeping and so on.
Most businesses also find it necessary to enter a variety of contractual arrangements in order to operate the venture. Such contracts might include agreements to buy or lease, equipment, contracts to receive or provide specific supplies or services, and agreements to buy or lease land or buildings for use in the business.
These operational matters are discussed in this chapter.
