Fort Chimo

Fort Chimo is today called Kuujjuaq (Inuktitut for 'Great River'). It was first visited by Europeans in 1811 and the Hudson's Bay Company established a post in the area in 1830 to trade furs with the Inuit. It was visited by the RCMP on patrols, however the force never established a permanent station there.
