Bob Edwards

As the editor of The Eye Opener, Bob Edwards waged war on big business, self-righteous individuals, and rigid social institutions. His use of satire placed him in the forefront of Canadian journalism. In Calgary, Edwards criticised churches for excessive moralism, and he supported women’s suffrage and the temperance crusade. He also championed the formation of municipal hospitals in the city – he argued that the Calgary General Hospital was a place for "sick, rich people."
