The SACRI antibody services Cell Bank Facility stores and distributes primary cell strains and immortal cell lines to the scientific community for research purposes. Cell lines are accepted through the depositors' completion of submission forms which gives pertinent characteristics on the cells. Upon arrival, the cells are tested for bacterial, fungal, and mycoplasmal contamination. The procedure for testing follows that of the ATCC Quality Control Methods for Cell Lines. Common bacterial isolates occasionally identified by such testing include various micrococci, Pseudomonas and Escherichia coli, whereas fungal contaminants would most likely include Penicillium, Aspergillus and Candida. When the cell cultures have been tested and shown to be negative, the cells are expanded and stored by freezing in liquid nitrogen. Please note that we cannot test for all pathogens including viruses, and cells are distributed with no guarantees of sterility or identity. Follow this link to view a description of each cell line
Cells accepted and distributed by the Cell Bank include human as well as animal species from a wide spectrum of origins. Should you wish to donate a cell line to the SACRI Cell Bank please contact us.
