Alumni breakfast and AGM - June 14, 2008

More than 150 alumni and their families kicked off Campus Fair on June 14 with the Alumni Association’s annual pancake breakfast, complete with Celtic music and door prizes.

The association’s 2008 Annual General Meeting followed right after, with the installation of its 2008/09 board of directors. Ken McKinnon, BComm’80, is the new president.

“There’s really been some great headway over the last few years, and I’m looking forward to keeping the momentum going,” he said.

Roman Cooney, BA’95, MCS’01, VP (external), thanked outgoing president Tamara McCarron, BSc’00, MBA’05, for her hard work, sense of humour and “generous heart” in making possible so many positive changes to the association.

Said McCarron: “It’s been a real pleasure, but you can’t do this on your own. Our volunteers and alumni relations staff bring their ideas and their energy, and we wouldn’t be able to do what we have without them.”

Two such volunteers, who are stepping down after years of service, were also honoured: Dean Brawn, BA’89, who served for 12 years on the board, and Judy McCaffrey, BA’82, who has acted as chief usher on behalf of the Alumni Association for many years.
