Alumni Membership Card

All U of C alumni are automatically members of the Alumni Association when you graduate, and with that you are entitled to an alumni membership card. You will need the card to access certain alumni benefits and services, and carrying it is also a chance to show your pride in your alma mater.

Why do I need an alumni membership card?

The alumni membership card provides proof of your alumni status with the U of C, a necessary connection to take advantage of certain benefits available exclusively to U of C alumni that are offered by carefully selected partners. Do I need a different alumni card to access Campus Recreation or the libraries?

Yes. To specifically access Campus Recreation and library services you will need to obtain an enhanced alumni membership card with additional features from the Campus Security office, located in MacEwan Hall, during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. You will need to bring your Student Campus Card or a piece of photo ID to obtain your alumni membership card.

Why are there two different types of alumni cards?

If you want take advantage of alumni benefits (excluding Campus Recreation and library services), the alumni office can produce and mail you an alumni membership card that includes your name and alumni number.

If you want to access Campus Recreation’s alumni rates or campus library services, you will need an enhanced alumni membership card produced by Campus Security. These cards feature your photograph, a magnetized strip and a bar code, all of which are necessary to access these facilities. You can also use this card to provide proof of your alumni status to take advantage of benefits that are offered by our carefully selected partners.

I graduated eight years ago and I never received an alumni card. How do I get one?

To request an alumni membership card to take advantage of all your alumni benefits, simply email or call the Alumni Services office at 403-220-8500 or toll-free 1-877-220-8509. Please ensure you provide us with your current contact and mailing information as a card will be mailed to you in 4-6 weeks.

If you need the alumni membership card to access library services and Campus Recreation facilities, please request one in person at the Campus Security office located in MacEwan Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. You will need to bring your Student Campus Card or a piece of photo ID to obtain your alumni membership card. Campus Security will confirm your alumni status, take your photograph and issue you your card during your visit.

Does it cost anything to get an alumni card?

If you have never previously received an alumni membership card from the University of Calgary, we will provide your first one to you, free of charge. There is a $20 charge to replace lost or stolen cards.

What should I do if my alumni membership card is lost or stolen?

To replace a lost or stolen alumni membership card without the enhanced features for access to Campus Recreation or library services, please email or call the Alumni Services office at 403-220-8500 or toll-free 1-877-220-8509. We will issue you a new alumni card within 4-6 weeks and following payment of a $20 replacement fee.

If you lost an alumni membership card with enhanced features (for Campus Recreation or library access), please contact Campus Security immediately at 403-220-7290. To replace it, you will need to visit the Campus Security office in MacEwan Hall to request a replacement card and pay the $20 replacement fee.

I have never joined the Alumni Association. How do I become a member?

If you have received an undergraduate or graduate degree from the University of Calgary, you are automatically a member of the Alumni Association and our alumni family of 135,000 grads in 135 countries.

What benefits or discounts does an alumni membership card get me?

There are many benefits to carrying your alumni membership card. Just some of these include:

How do I change my name on my alumni membership card?

To change your name on your alumni membership card, please email or call the Alumni Services office at 403-220-8500 or toll-free 1-877-220-8509 with your updated information and the request for a new card. We will issue you a new alumni card within 4-6 weeks and following payment of a $20 replacement fee.

If you have never received an alumni card and need to update your record with us to reflect a name change, please email or call the Alumni Services office at 403-220-8500 or toll-free 1-877-220-8509. We will issue you a new alumni card within 4-6 weeks. In this case, there is no $20 replacement fee.
