University of Calgary

Alumni Association

Who are Association members? You are!

As a University of Calgary graduate, you are a member of the Alumni Association.

The University of Calgary Alumni Association embodies the partnership between the 140,000 alumni and the University of Calgary. The Board of Governors of the university has, since 1966, recognized the Alumni Association as the official representative of our graduates as defined by The Universities Act. We work collaboratively with the university to develop a strong interdependent relationship.

Mission Statement

The Alumni Association's mission is to promote and foster the lifelong commitment of current and future alumni to the University of Calgary.

Purpose

The Alumni Association supports and develops various activities that benefit both alumni and students. Some examples include:

  • Volunteer opportunities exist at all levels of alumni governance and university governance (Senate, Board of Governors, and General Faculties Council).
  • A popular degree framing service for University of Calgary degree parchments is available at convocation and year-round.
  • Student Clubs are eligible for activity grants.
  • Through the Alumni Annual Fund program and other donations, alumni give substantially to the university, providing funds for student scholarships and bursaries, library acquisitions, professorships and chairs, faculty-based enhancements and other institutional needs. In addition, students are employed as Alumni Annual Fund student callers working to contact alumni via telephone for annual gifts.
  • Alumni displays across campus, including alumni showcases in the MacEwan Student Centre and occasionally in the Administration Building give students and visitors to campus insight on where alumni are living around the world, programed service offerings, distinguished alumni profiles and alumni activity highlights.
