The University of Calgary has an incredibly active Students’ Union that offers a myriad of opportunities for students to get involved and speak their mind. Meet new friends through their weekly events such as Cinemania, where you can see Hollywood movies in the comfort of one of campuses’ largest lecture theatres. Interested in politics? Get involved with the SU and run for a position – even in your first year. Are you an audiophile? Volunteer for CJSW, the campus radio station. Is journalism the name of your game? Speak your mind at the Gauntlet, our student run weekly newspaper. Is television in your future? Broadcast yourself through NUTV, our U of C community television station. Be sure to also check out the Office of the Student Experience, an office dedicated to developing your skills as a leader, getting you involved with service learning, and making your mark on campus. The sky is the limit when it comes to your involvement on campus.
Meet new friends, get involved, build your resume and have some fun with a U of C club. We’ve got them all, from academic clubs to those that revolve around your interests. Every September, the Students’ Union hosts Clubs Week to showcase all the ways you can get involved, and share your interests. Is nothing striking your fancy? Start your own club!

What better way to get involved at the U of C then to pursue your own research. Learning that takes place outside the classroom and demands from you the best of your abilities. With the PURE (Undergrad Research) opportunity you can follow your own path to discovering what you find passionate and contribute to that field in a meaningful and significant way. Not only will you become an integral part of the academic world but you'll learn how to write an effective research proposal, seek funding for your projects and practice the skills that are critical for your discipline.
Here are a few examples of what students have done in the past.
