The BComm degree is a four-year program you can enter in either first year as a direct entry student, or your third year as a transfer student. As a direct entry student, you will spend your first two years covering the fundamentals of business. You will then choose one of 18 concentrations in your third year:

Accounting
In this program you will gain the expertise needed for a career as an accountant or manager. The program emphasizes conceptual issues, while providing you with the appropriate technical accounting skills. By focusing on important skills such as recognizing generally accepted accounting principles, creating reports, tax planning and auditing, you will gain a clear understanding of the relationships between accounting and related management issues. Your career path could include a job as a business advisor, tax accountant or internal auditor.

Business Process Management
Combine the ability to understand and analyze business processes with the know-how to select and apply technology and information systems. You will learn how to improve the quality and increase the effectiveness of business processes using a variety of approaches and techniques. Your ability to think outside the box and your creative problem-solving skills can be used to reduce company costs as well as improve the quality of goods and services. You could pursue career opportunities as a logistics officer, business process analyst and cost schedule analyst.

Energy Management
In this program, you will gain an understanding of the basic concepts, principles and strategies required to manage energy operations. Your courses will provide a framework to make energy management decisions in the context of industry history, industry structure, basic technology, market forces and dynamics, political and environmental sensitivities and the regulatory environment. Your competitive edge for careers in the energy sector mean you could pursue a job as a commodity analyst, energy trader or project manager, to name a few.

A concentration in entrepreneurship and innovation provides you with an understanding of how to start your own business and help existing businesses grow. The human resources and organizational dynamics concentration focuses on the effective management of people. You will learn specific technical skills to manage the employment relationship and analyze individual, group and organizational processes. Your skills will include leadership, interpersonal communications, motivation, problem-solving and decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation, interviewing and appraisal skills. Types of jobs include mediator, organizational consultant and labour relations officer.
