An acknowledgement letter will be sent to you, as well as emailed to you. This letter alerts you to the fact that we have received your application, and that you now have a file with our office. It will also inform you of documents or other information we require. In order to receive an offer of admission, you will need to arrange to have official transcripts sent to our office that record your final grades.
For more information on deadline dates, please visit the Important Dates page on the Admissions website.
You will need to have one official high school transcript sent. As well, if you've attended any post-secondary institutions, you will need to have one official transcript sent from each institution.
Official transcripts are documents that we receive directly from the institution sending them either by mail or courier.
Students who have attended high school in Alberta and/or an Alberta post-secondary institution which participates with ApplyAlberta will have transcripts requested from these institutions on their behalf by the University of Calgary.
Students from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut must arrange to have high school transcripts issued to us from the education ministry. Students from Manitoba, Ontario, and the Atlantic Provinces should have their high school send us their transcripts. Students from Quebec must have their CEGEP transcripts sent to us from the institution they attended.
Transcripts are needed for post-secondary (college, technical institution, or university) education, which are issued by the institution directly to our office. We require one official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended.
Transcripts should be sent to the Recruitment and Admissions Office at the University of Calgary. Our address can be found on the Contact Us page on the Admissions website.
It's difficult for us to say exactly how long an evaluation may take, as it is dependent on such things as the program you have applied for, the type of institutions you have attended, and other factors. We normally indicate a period of 3-5 weeks from the date of the receipt of the last of your required documents, though that is an estimate.
Log onto the myUofC portal (https://my.ucalgary.ca) and access your online Student Centre. Be sure to monitor both your To Do List and Application Status.
Some information can be changed by you through the myUofC portal by accessing your online Student Centre. The online Student Centre allows students to change their address and e-mail address and make changes to your Fall application until April 1, 2012 for applications to Arts (Dance), Education, Engineering, and Medicine (BHSc), Science (Neurosciences), and Social Work and May 1, 2012 for all other programs. If you need to change other information in your file - the name of somebody who has permission to access your file, etc - you must do it in writing. You can send us a note or a fax with the new information, your name, and your signature.

Our office will evaluate your transcripts. When you are given an offer of admission, you will be able to view your Transfer Credit Report on your online Student Centre. If you've attended a college in Alberta, you may wish to refer to the Alberta Transfer Guide (www.acat.gov.ab.ca/), which lists the transferability of courses between institutions in the province.
If you've attended a college in another province in Canada, we will consider for credit those courses eligible for a degree credit at an accredited university in the same province. If you have attended an accredited university in Canada, all coursework completed will be considered for credit.
If you have attended a college or university in the United States, we will evaluate for transfer credit if the institution is accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association, and if the lecture, tutorial, and laboratory hours of each course is equivalent to those at the University of Calgary. Course credit will not be granted merely on the basis of semester or quarter credits completed.
For students who have attended college or universities outside of North America, credit will be considered for coursework completed at institutions approved by the Ministry of Education in that country or by another appropriate body. If a diploma program is completed at a college or university outside of North America, we will award transfer credit only if the program or course(s) is recognized for degree credit by a university in that country.
If you've attended an institution outside of Canada, you must arrange for transcripts to be issued to our office. Often, we will ask for detailed course outlines (most likely for post secondary institutions) that give such information about the topics of study, textbooks used, grading practices, and assignments. These outlines help us determine the amount and type of transfer credit you are eligible for.
If these outlines or transcripts are in a language other than English, they must be translated into English by a qualified translator other than yourself. The translations must be verified by a notary public who is authorized by the government to attest to the documents' authenticity. If you have high school courses that were administered by an examinations board or syndicate, you must arrange for transcripts to be sent from those authorities to us at the Recruitment and Admissions Office.
Outlines may be scanned (pdf) and emailed to outlines@ucalgary.ca
