Communication and Culture

Please note that the Faculties of Communication and Culture, Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences have amalgamated into the Faculty of Arts. We are in the process of updating faculty information pages.

The Faculty of Communication and Culture offers competitive interdisciplinary degrees in some of today's most interesting and promising fields. Programs cover many subjects and themes (law, gender, national identity, technology, etc.) with a common vision. In addition to academic opportunities, our internship, international study abroad, and co-op agreements will allow you to gain experience in the field as they fulfill degree requirements. From Geneva to Singapore, from the Arctic to Southeast Asia, and throughout Canada and the U.S., our graduates have gone on to join world-renowned teams as educators, consultants, analysts, lawyers, managers, directors and CEOs. The Faculty of Communication and Culture offers the following degree programs:

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in:

Canadian Studies Film Studies
Communication and Culture (4 year) Latin American Studies *
Communications Studies Law and Society
Development Studies Science, Technology and Society
East Asian Studies * Women's Studies

Bachelor of Science (BSc) in:

Communication and Culture (4 year) Science, Technology and Society

Bachelor of Communications Studies (BCS - 4 year)

Bachelor of Communication and Culture (BCC - 3 year)

In conjunction with the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Communication and Culture offers a five year combined degree program leading to a BA (Canadian Studies) and a BEd.

NOTES:

* These programs are offered in collaboration with the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences.
† Conjoint degree offered in partnership with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the Faculty of Communication and Culture, applicants are required to present the appropriate high school subjects and a competitive average.

Application/Document Deadlines

Weekend University

Weekend University is a joint offering between the Faculty of Communication and Culture and the Faculty of Continuing Education that provides opportunity for the non-traditional student to complete a University degree through part-time study. Courses are organized so that students may complete the interdisciplinary degrees (BCC or BA in Communication and Culture or the BA in Communication Studies) solely through attending classes on Saturdays.

After Degree Programs

Holders of an approved degree may apply to enter a prescribed undergraduate degree program offered by the Faculty of Communication and Culture provided that the second bachelor's degree is not in the same field as the first.
