Admission to the University of Calgary is competitive and as with any competitive process, we can only project at this time what the final minimum admission average might be based on 2010 and 2011 final averages. We will be able to articulate final averages for each faculty/program for Fall 2012 entry once all applications have been received and the admission process is complete. It is recommended that applicants select a second program choice when completing their application for admission.
In putting competitive admission into practice, at this time, we are continuing to offer early admission to applicants who are qualified on the basis of their self-reported grades (for high school applicants) or preliminary grades (for transfer students). These admission offers are conditional on the applicant's final grades, in addition to the applicant meeting any other qualifications for their program.
Certain faculties/programs have high demand, and therefore the greatest competition for available spaces.
The following faculties and programs are in high demand. High school students may require final admission averages over 78% to be competitive for admission. For all other faculties or programs, we expect that the final high school admission average will be within 2-3% higher than the final admission averages reported for 2010 and 2011.
