How do I know what program to apply for?
Detailed information on degree programs and majors can be found on the Admissions website on the Programs of Study tab (www.ucalgary.ca/admissions/programs). This includes program descriptions, topics of study, career information, and resources for questions you may have.
What happens after I submit my application?
When you have submitted your application, you will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours.
You will then receive an email assigning you your UofC ID number (UCID). This in most cases will arrive within 2 business days. Applicants who have submitted the application fee with the Application for Admission will also receive an aknowledgement which includes information about transcripts required, as well as information regarding any additional documentation required, specific notes about the program applied for, and a listing of any additional requirements.
Please add us to your address book (applauto@ucalgary.ca). (Please note that this e-mail is only used to send messages to students. Any messages received by this address will be deleted and not responded to.) Email service providers use many different spam filters to block messages from getting to you. To ensure that you receive emails from the Admissions Office and the University of Calgary, take a moment to add us to your email address book.
You will continue to receive updates from the University of Calgary, so please continue to check your email account for messages on a regular basis.
If you do not supply an email address, you will receive correspondence through regular postal mail. This may take 1-2 weeks to arrive at the current address you provide on your application.
How do I get my ID Number?
Once you submit your application, your UofC ID number (UCID) will be emailed to you within 24 hours. If you do not provide an email address, your ID number will be mailed to you.
What are the transcript deadline dates?
Please refer to the Admissions Important Dates page (www.ucalgary.ca/admissions/important_dates) for information on deadlines.
How do I change my application?
You can make changes to your application by accessing your application information through the myUofC portal (http://my.ucalgary.ca/). Login to the portal using your eID and password you previously created and click on the Apply for Undergraduate Admission icon.
Can I receive Early Admission?
High school students:
If you are attending a high school in Canada until June 2009, you may be eligible for an offer of Early Admission. On your application, you are required to list all your grade 12-level subjects you have completed or will have completed by June. You have until April 1st to provide the Admissions Office with your current or final grades in these courses. Please note that the grade submission for Early Admission can only be made on-line through the myUofC portal at:
http://my.ucalgary.ca/. Login to the portal using your eID and password you previously created and click on the Apply for Undergraduate Admission link. Select the High School course option. Make the necessary updates to your high school courses completed and click on the save and continue button. This will bring you to the page where you can input your grades. Once all of your changes have been made, please remember to submit your application again. No additional cost is required to submit changes or updates to your application.
Please do not send in grade reports by fax or regular mail. Information on requirements for Early Admission is available on the Recruitment and Admissions website.
Transfer students:
If you are taking post-secondary coursework in Winter session 2009, you may be eligible for an offer of Early Admission. You will be required to send transcripts for high school and all post-secondary institutions you have attended showing final grades up to and including Fall Session 2008. You may also be asked to submit additional documentation including course outlines, translations, proof of English language proficiency, etc. The Admissions Office will review your file to determine if you are eligible to receive
Early Admission. The deadline to submit transcripts and any additional required documentation in support of a request for Early Admission is April 1.
International Students:
Offshore international students must provide
all required documentation by April 1. International students residing outside Canada or the USA must submit high school and post-secondary transcripts showing results for courses completed up to and including the Fall 2008 or most recent semester and if required, other supporting documents (e.g. TOEFL score, detailed course outlines, notarized English translations, etc.). More information can be found on the following website:
www.ucalgary.ca/admissions/international.
Do I have to pick a second choice on my application?
Second choices are not required, but are recommended. We suggest that you select a second choice that has a lower GPA requirement than your first choice. In the event that you cannot be admitted to your first choice of program, we will automatically consider you for admission to your requested second choice.
Information on last year’s final admitting averages is available through the Admissions Office website.
