If you are 21 years of age or older at the commencement of the session to which you are seeking admission, but do not fully meet matriculation requirements, you may be eligible for admission as an adult student. Only applicants who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents will be considered for admission under this category. International students are not eligible for admission under this category. Acceptance under this category is always at the discretion of the faculty to which entry is sought.
Adult student applicants must submit official high school and post-secondary transcripts, regardless of the level reached. If Basic English (prior to September 2011) or English II (after September 2011), Mathematics II, Algebra and Trigonometry, Biology II, Introduction to Chemistry (prior to September 2011), or Chemistry II (after September 2011), or Physics II is completed through University of Calgary Continuing Education, please make arrangements to have an official transcript sent directly to the Admissions Office. This information, as well as the expected dates of completion, must be reported on the Application for Admission form.
Adult students must present satisfactory standing in English Language Arts 30-1 (or an acceptable background) and other senior matriculation subjects (listed by province) specified by the faculty to which admission is sought.
Adult students will have their high school average calculated on the subjects required for admission to their program. Adult students who present transfer coursework must also meet the Competitive Admission GPA requirements stipulated by the faculty.
For more information regarding Competitive Admission GPA requirements for the past two years, please refer to the Competitive Admission Criteria and Averages.
All applicants must satisfy our English Language Proficiency requirement before they will be considered for admission.
