Comprehensive Institutional Plan

View the 2013 CIPThis Comprehensive Institutional Plan (CIP) is a three-year, integrated planning document that satisfies legislated requirements outlined under Section 78(1) of the Post-Secondary Learning Act and Section 14(2) of the Fiscal Management Act. The Chair of the Board of Governors is required to submit this multi-year plan to the Minister of Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education by March 15 each year. This year an extension to the deadline was granted to May 31, 2013 for all Alberta post-secondary institutions.

The CIP was constructed as a series of chapters overseen by a senior team at the university. The academic and research priorities outlined in the academic and research chapters serve as a foundation for planning in the capital, budget and resource allocation chapters.

The CIP went through an extensive, iterative consultative and approvals process. The chapters that are the purview of the General Faculties Council (i.e., the Academic Plan and the Research Plan) were reviewed by the university’s academic community.  The chapters that are the purview of the Board of Governors (i.e., the more business related chapters) were reviewed by various administrative committees.
