EthicsOur interest is to explore where clinical ethics “gets on” and “gets off” when it comes to the design and conduct of community level preventive interventions. Issues raised include: consent, the nature of harm, and real time accountability for action on problems and needs identified. A post doctoral position within ICCI has been created to address the urgent need for debate and new ways forward that address the intersection between community needs and rights for privacy and protection, and the need to preserve research integrity and the usefulness of findings beyond the immediate people and agencies involved with a research project. Feature publications:Davison CM, Brown M, Moffitt P. Student researchers negotiating consent in Northern Aboriginal Communities. International Journal of Qualitative Methods 2006;5(2):Article 7. Riley T, Hawe P, Shiell A. Contested ground: how should qualitative evidence inform the conduct of a community intervention trial? Journal of Health Services Research and Policy 2005;10(2):103-110
