Alberto Nettel-Aguirre

Biography: Alberto joined the Population Health Intervention Research Centre in the spring of 2008 as a Research Affiliate. He is based in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Calgary at the Alberta Children's Hospital where he is the Statistician for the Research Methods Team, here he does statistical consulting for MD's and others in the Department and is participating in several research projects. Alberto got his Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (1995), worked for ACNielsen for two years before deciding to do an MSc in Statistics at U of C (1999), followed by a PhD in Statistics at U of C (2005). His postdoc experience at Acadia University centred around the study and modelling of large graph data and social networks. He received the Professional Statistician designation from the Statistical Society of Canada in June 2007.

Research Interests: Data Mining and Statistical Learning, Biostatistics, Shape analysis, Injury Prevention, and Statistical methods for social network analysis.
