Transcripts and documents

Applications are reviewed for admission when all required documents have been received.

We will evaluate your application based on the grades presented when each transcript is received. If you are not admitted initially, you will automatically be re-reviewed when new grades are received.

It's important to know which documents you need to submit and deadlines you need to submit them by. Once you apply, your Student Centre will have details specific to the programs you’ve applied for. Check your Student Centre and email regularly.

Transcript details by school location

If you attended a high school or post-secondary institution in Alberta that participates in ApplyAlberta, the University of Calgary will obtain your transcripts on your behalf. There’s no need to send them to us. If we’re unable to obtain your transcripts on your behalf, you’ll be notified by email.

If you’re attending a non-semester/linear school, submit your interim transcripts with your mid-year assessment or marks after Jan. 1. Interim transcripts should be uploaded via the Student Centre by March 15 and they must include your full name.

Transcripts must be requested through the B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care’s Student Transcript Service to be sent electronically, with the option that allows the post-secondary institution to request updates until Sept. 1.

Please submit your undergraduate application for admission prior to requesting your transcript. This will ensure your transcript successfully loads to your application when it arrives electronically.

As long as you request your transcript using the correct option on the B.C. Ministry website, and after you have submitted your application for admission, you'll only need to do this once.

If you're attending a non-semester/linear school, submit your interim transcripts with your mid-year assessment or marks after Jan. 1. Interim transcripts should be uploaded via the Student Centre by March 15 and they must include your full name.

We receive transcripts from Saskatchewan high schools through MyCreds. If you're completing high school in Saskatchewan, first, you will need to apply for admission through ApplyAlberta and ensure you currently enter your Saskatchewan Student Number on your application.

After you submit your UCalgary application for admission, use MyCreds to send us your transcript as follows:

1.    Select “share by organization

2.    Select “Apply Alberta” from the organization list

If you’re attending a non-semester/linear school, submit your interim transcripts with your mid-year assessment or marks after Jan. 1. Interim transcripts should be uploaded via the Student Centre by March 15 and they must include your full name.

International applicants seeking admission on the basis of documents that are in a language other than English must submit official documents in the original language as well as English translations prepared by a certified translator.

All documentation prepared by a certified translator requires a seal or stamp with the translator’s membership number associated with a professional translation association in Canada or abroad.

Please don’t submit original documents. If the only transcripts available to you are original copies and you’re unable to obtain official transcripts due to exceptional circumstances, please connect with us after you have applied.

If you’ve completed high school upgrading with UCalgary Continuing Education, please ensure "University of Calgary Continuing Education (high school upgrading)" is included as an institution on your application. Visit the Continuing Education transcripts page to request to have a transcript sent to UCalgary undergraduate admissions.

Unofficial transcripts

Unofficial transcripts can be used for your initial evaluation. You may be asked to upload unofficial transcripts to your Student Centre. If you are asked to upload transcripts, please ensure they have the following so that they can be used for evaluation:

  • Your full name
  • The full name of school attended
  • Dates of attendance
  • All courses and credit hours taken (including transfer credit received, if applicable) and
  • The date of issue

We can’t accept screenshots of your student portal.

Unofficial transcripts must be uploaded to your Student Centre by the deadline indicated.

Our preferred file format is PDF.

Official transcripts

Official transcripts must be sent from your school or government agency directly to the Admissions Office before the final transcript deadline to finalize your admission offer. For most students, you won’t have the option to upload your final transcript in your Student Centre because it needs to come from the issuing body to be considered official.

Official transcripts are documents sent directly to the Admissions Office from institutions maintaining such records, such as a department of education or national examination board. Official transcripts can be sent by mail or electronically through certain secure electronic delivery services, such as Parchment, e-Script-Safe, MyCreds or National Student Clearinghouse.

Please note: Transcripts received by the Admissions Office become the property of the University of Calgary and can't be returned or forwarded to other institutions.
