Experiencing hunger during The Hamper Project

We have all heard the expression the “starving student”, but how many of us have actually genuinely experienced what it is like to experience hunger? Imagine having nothing in your cupboard or fridge to eat. Hunger is a reality on our campus; last year, 468 students, staff and faculty found themselves in the position of having to rely on an emergency food from the Campus Food Bank.

The Hamper Project has been organized to create awareness around hunger on our campus. Eight campus community members will forgo the luxuries they often take for granted and live solely off the contents of a Campus Food Bank hamper for one week. See what their experiences have been like by reading The Hamper Project blog.

Want to participate? See a list of Hunger Week events running this week on our events listing.
