U of C medical school founder honoured with Hall of Fame induction
Nearly every major city in Canada had a medical school in the late 1960s, except Calgary.
In 1967, Dr. William Cochrane reluctantly moved west from Halifax, where he was a pediatrician at the children's hospital and a professor at Dalhousie University. He had been working on launching the much-needed school in Calgary for two years, but was spinning his wheels.

Nursing students make lives healthier
Community health is about helping people keep healthy or maintain current levels so they don't get worse and require medical intervention, said senior instructor Sylvia Loewen, a senior instructor at the U of C's Faculty of Nursing. "Nursing takes care of people from the cradle to the grave."

Doctors study link between oral cancer and HPV
